ABOUT US

We are Warrandyte!
Founded in 2001, the goal was to offer the community a calisthenics club with a difference; a club where every member feels safe, supported, and valued.

25 years later, we remain a club that teaches good quality, competitive calisthenics, with a strong focus on performance and teamwork.

WHAT IS CALISTHENICS?
Calisthenics is unique to Australia and can be categorised as both a sport and an art.
As a sport, it encourages physical development through its combination of gymnastics, simplified ballet, marching, singing, apparatus manipulation & dance.
As an art, it develops an appreciation for music and rhythm, correct technique, and the excitement of performing on stage.

Calisthenics involves a team of participants learning various routines choreographed to music, which are then performed on stage at competitions and concerts throughout the year. Pupils learn between 4 and 6 routines (dependant on their age group).

Calisthenics is a team sport that promotes community, strength and technique, and dedication.
Our talented coaches choreograph challenging routines to suit the abilities of all participants, whilst encouraging and strengthening their skills and confidence as performers.
Dedicated and experienced co-coaches and assistants are integral to the coaching team, ensuring everyone feels included and supported in class and at competitions.

OUR HISTORY
Warrandyte Calisthenics College was established in 2001 by Katrina Berryman, with 48 members across Tinies - Seniors, including a "jinters" team that combined Juniors with our Inters so that everyone had the opportunity to perform.
In that year, we held our first summer workshop and participated in the Warrandyte Festival Street Parade in March, which continued for 6 years.

Since then, our club has grown to 100+ members, 7 committee members, and classes across all sections. Including our Masters team which was established in 2011.
